Canyon Springs Update Dec 10 2014

There were many great comment letters received on the Revised Draft Environmental Impact Report in November 2014 – a total of 69!   A HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE that submitted a comment letter, wrote letters to the newspapers and contributed to our legal/expert costs for this RDEIR.  Our hired experts noted many significant errors and omissions in this RDEIR.
Next Steps: A Final EIR will incorporate response to public comments on the DEIR and RDEIR.  The Planning Commission Hearing to vote on the approval of the project will occur within days of the FEIR release, expected January 2015.   According to Town staff, the Town normally gives 10 days from FEIR Release to the FEIR Hearing; however; Town staff stated the Town would like to give 20-30 days for Canyon Springs project.  SOSG will again be hiring experts, quickly, to review and assist in response to the FEIR.  Public attendance at this hearing is vital – Please stay tuned!  Happy Holidays!

Canyon Springs

  • Thanks to everyone who submitted comments on the DEIR, this public response was unprecedented – a great start toward a responsible and environmentally conscious land use outcome!
  • While waiting to hear from the Town about the next steps for the EIR, we must ramp up efforts & fund raising NOW in order to be proactive and not reactive to the possible outcomes:
  • Commenting process if DEIR is revised
  • An appeal process if project is approved
  • Open space preservation

Significant time and funds would be needed for all scenarios.  Legal consul, experts and community involvements are all vital in our efforts.

Wildlife Monitoring

  • SOSG continues to monitor deer/wildlife in the area.  Please report your sightings on our website.

Happy Holidays,   SOS Glenshire
